Life on the interstate

The road sign says “Youngstown 10, New York 405 mi.” The implication is that there is nothing of note in PA. The next thing is New York. On the one hand, I like it like that. It keeps all those trouble makers on the super slab blowing by life as the sterile, homogenized enterprise that the road tells us it surely is. On the other hand, nothing could be further from the truth.
